After years of working together, we have officially touched every piece of the exterior of this home. Occupied by the son of its original owners and his family, this classic 60’s build bi-level in West Caldwell found itself needing upgrades, both cosmetic and performance based. We replaced all the windows, replaced the roof, and installed vinyl siding over the course of about 6 years. Most recently, we had the opportunity to replace their large rear deck with beautiful Trex Transcend decking. The homeowners selected black aluminum balusters and a deck-matching drink rail for a contemporary touch

Upper Montclair Charmer

What started as a window replacement project turned into a larger exterior renovation that touched almost this entire house. We installed 400 series Andersen replacement windows, expertly sized by Ed Sr. to minimize unnecessary trim work and maximize glass size. We installed James Hardie siding in a profile very close to that of the original siding on the home, and topped it off with a new portico to add dimension and curb appeal.

Montclair Estate Section Restoration

The owners of this lovely home called us one day and explained they had just had the inside of the house re-done from top to bottom, and had been instructed to get the outside fixed as to not damage their newly re-done home. This was a really interesting project for us as the trim needs were quite a lot more detailed than typical. We solved that by executing a sort of hybrid restoration/renovation. Anything that could be replaced with new materials that looked virtually the same as the old, we replaced (siding, straight runs of trim). The more intricate details, such as gorgeous capitals, dentil trim, curved windows with curved trim, etc. was left in place and painted. Going forward, the house will still need a light paint job once in a while on those intricate trim pieces, but the vast majority of the house will be maintenance free for years to come

North Caldwell Traditional

North Caldwell Showstopper

The owners of this impressive north caldwell colonial wanted a makeover package with all the bells and whistles. We installed James Hardie siding in two different profiles to add interest, in a gorgeous shade of blue. Next we got to work installing a large Trex deck with drink rail and a unique wire based railing to maximize views. We replaced many of the windows on the home, and installed a magnificent provia entry door. Lastly, the contemporary cherry on top was brand new aluminum railings with horizontal balusters

Elegant Upgrades in West Caldwell

After many years of living in their home, these customers felt it needed a face lift, and a past customer referred them our way this past summer. We replaced almost all of the windows on the home, some had already been replaced, and replaced all the siding and trim. Light gray insulated siding has made their home more beautiful and energy efficient, while still complimenting existing brick work, finished off with black shutters.

Historically Accurate Window Replacement in Essex Fells

Replacing the windows on a nearly 100 year old house in Essex Fells was a very detailed project. Down to the paint finish on the interior and exterior, the width of the grills, there was a lot that went into making sure these windows looked as close to original as possible, and we delivered.

These are Pella windows, custom sized, installed in a manner which saves the current trim (saves the historic detail and saves on cost), with super cool sound control glass.

Clifton Craftsman

We had the pleasure of giving this lovely clifton a home a total exterior makeover. New ProVia CedarMAX siding in Aspen was the start of an earthy palette, accented by cultured stone veneer and a new low maintenance woodgrain fiberglass craftsman style door. We also replaced many windows, installed a GAF Timberline HDZ Roof in Weathered Wood, and a new Amarr Garage door. The craftsman style column on a stone pier was the cherry on top of a beautiful renovation.

Luxurious Exterior Makeover

We renovated the exterior of this beautiful North Caldwell center hall from soup to nuts! First, we replaced the existing porch with a beautiful blue stone landing. Then, we replaced the original windows with new energy efficient white vinyl windows with simulated divided lights.

We then replaced all the original cedar siding with CertainTeed insulated siding in Pacific Blue, followed by replicating all existing trim (Dentil, frieze boards, entry panels, rams head, window headers) with low/no maintenance composites. Finally, we replaced the front entry door with a classic 6 panel doors with two sidelights. You would be hard pressed to tell us that vinyl siding has diminished this home’s character!

A Labor of Love!

Replacing the original casements on this 1920s Glen Ridge Tudor was no easy feat! We looked at several different window brands to determine which would most closely match the original. We settled on custom colored Andersen E Series casements, and we field applied blue mullion strips to simulate the look of individual casements.

In the photos above, the upper windows are replaced, while the lower are original. Can you spot the difference? We can’t!
